Engraved Tags, Signs and Nameplates

Alpha provide a range of engraved products for a wide range of industries and applications. We utilize a range of engraving processes to engrave a variety of materials.

These include:

  • Chemical engraving of metals using ferric chloride. It is also referred to as chemical etching. It is used to produced stainless steel and brass tags and plates that are hard wearing, durable and tough to last in a variety of hostile conditions. It is a process used in industries such as pharmaceuticals, engineering, prototyping and more. Triangulation  marker  /control  points are a speciality products of ours related to this field.
  • Engraving on darvic plastic (also referred to as Gravoply), engraving laminate and multi-core laminates using a router or laser marking. Produces inexpensive durable id labels, engraved tags and signs. Engraving laminate materials come in indoor and outdoor grades and in thicknesses from 1.5mm up to 3 mm. These products are used for electrical warning and safety signs (ESB), in the air conditioning trade, data centres, valve tags for pharmaceutical and engineering projects and much more.
  • Laser marking is one of the most permanent ways to identify a product. The process is resilient and will last in a wide range of hostile environments where other processes won’t. A large variety of materials can be laser marked including stainless steel (304 and 306 grade), anodised aluminium, traffolyte and more.

Industries such as Engineering and Steel Fabrication, Medtech, Pharmaceuticals and more all use this method when procuring tags, identification and serial plates or even to mark directly on to the product itself. Laser marked valve tags are one of our biggest selling products in this range. We also supply durable stainless steel wire (Teflon coated) and crimps/ferules.

Many electrical maintenance warning signs for pylons and power stations are made from laser engraved rigid traffolyte signs.

The process is also used in architectural and artistic fields to permanently mark steel and aluminium pieces so they will last outdoors for many years.

Laser marking is a method as versatile as the industries it can be utilised in so please get in touch and see how it can work for yours!
  • Dot peening is another form of marking.  It differs from standard routing engraving in that the numbers and letters are punched in a series of close formed dots into the material.  If done on a soft material, such as .5 mm aluminium, it can give an embossed or debossed letter effect.
  • Mechanical engraving on aluminium nameplates is also a service we provide to our customers. This process is used frequently in the engraving of Data, Serial and CE Nameplates. It can be done sequentially and non-sequentially along with variable and invariable data. For customers that prefer to do their own engraving, we can offer a freehand Spyder Engraver Pen and a set of alphanumeric hand stamps/punches.
